Ok, I'm gonna keep things rolling here in the 'design' section, with yet another question for the gang. I've been following KOC's galactic grounding and decoupling scheme pretty closely, and my builds are typically quiet. However, one thing I have noticed is that I hear pickup noise with my guitar plugged in, volume (of guitar and amp) up, and my hands muting the strings. My guitar has two humbuckers and a three-way switch; and the noise changes as I switch the PUP selector.
My question is this: Is there any way to mitigate this noise inside the amp?

Hi John,
If the amp itself is running quietly and proper grounded and has shielded wire on sensitive leads, good lead dress, and proper grid stops than you instead need to address the guitars faults. What is happening is that amp simply amplifying noise in the guitar. Basically the amp is doing it's job: making what goes into it louder.
You need to make certain the guitar is properly shielded and grounded.

That's what I figured, but I want to be sure I'm not overlooking something simple.

If you turn the guitar vol down and everything is quiet then everything is working properly
You gotta think of the pickup like a bad microphone. On a cheapo guitar I had the pickups were a little loose and I could rock them a bit and hear the sound through the amp. I think there was an old video of a famous player shouting into his guitar and it came out the speaker - haha

Always a good idea! I've occasionally have overlooked something really simple too....I'm sure you'll get the guitar's noise problem solved!

Add a noise gate.
Otherwise, sounds like everything is working as it should.
