Linear power supply sizing
#1
Hi Guys

Linear power supplies are the mainstay of vintage audio product power sourcing. What can be simpler than using a mains-powered transformer followed by a rectifier and then some filtering? Everything is robust and can last nearly forever - at least the transformer and rectifier can.

So, how do you size the power supply for the task?
How do you pick a good power transformer (PT)?
How do you pick filter capacitors?

These are topics we will explore in this area.

Have fun
