Hi Guys
To paraphrase Clinton: "Yes, I did smoke solder in college... but I didn't inhale".
Gently exhale while soldering if it is not possible to have your face be well away from the plume. Otherwise, have good ventilation or employ a low-speed fan to bias the airflow away from yourself. A 12V muffin fan operating at 8V just as we make for cooling for a tube amp works well here.
If the filter you have in mind is not inexpensive and/or is not washable then other methods might be better.
